Mayor’s Civic Ball - Janette Duke

Mayor’s Civic Ball

The Mayor’s Civic Ball was held in the Champagne Suite at Shorefield Country Park on Saturday 12 February.  Over 120 guests attended from a wide spectrum of our community.  The Mayor and Mayoress of Christchurch, Cllrs Nick & Gillian Geary were also in attendance.  The evening began with a welcome drinks reception followed by a fork buffet.

County Councillor for New Milton, Cllr Mel Kendal spoke about projects within our community and how he had helped a number of these projects with funding from his Councillor’s Devolved Budget.  The Mayor then thanked those present for their
continuing support during her term in office and said that she was especially grateful to have a number of long-standing friends present and whose support had been
invaluable over the years.

There was a Card Lottery on each table and the Mayor’s Consort, Patrick Dalton, did the coin flipping for the Heads and Tails Game for which the prize was a Champagne Tea for Two at the Chewton Glen Hotel.  Shorefield had donated a 6 month Gym Membership and also a Short Break in a 6 Berth Caravan which the Mayor Auctioned.

Music was provided by Vince, the resident DJ, who kept the dancefloor full from 10pm with a selection of Golden Oldies from the 60’s and 70’s.  The evening finished when the last dancers left the dance floor at 1am.

On the night just under £1,000 was raised and, in total with ticket sale proceeds the event raised over £1,800 which will go into the Mayor’s Community Fund.
