Annual Towns Meeting April 30, 2012

Annual Towns Meeting

Wednesday 4th April 2012 marked the Annual Towns meeting where Cllr Mrs Valya Schooling, Town Mayor presented her annual report alongside the Chairmen of each committee.

Prior to the formal start of business the winner of the annual Citizen of the Year award was announced. The COTY award aims to recognise outstanding contributions to the community and each year the award is presented by the Town Mayor to a local community-spirited individual based on the following criteria:

  • Someone who has shown service to the community
  • Shown courage in overcoming/coping with disability and service to the community
  • Demonstrated an act of bravery
  • Shown a helping/caring attitude to someone disadvantaged

The Citizen of the Year award this year went to Mrs Pam Pulfer for her work with the New Milton Stroke Group.

Pamela Pulfer, nominated by two citizens of New Milton, was the perfect choice for our Citizen of the Year 2012/13. Pamela formed the New Milton Stroke Group in 1993 and with her team of nine volunteers has helped hundreds of stroke victims over the years. The group meets every Thursday at the Nedderman Centre in Marryat Road from 10am to 3pm. Activities include dance exercises, quizzes and a lottery. Monthly outings to the theatre, boat trips and visits to the Isle of Wight are also arranged.

Pamela, is an exceptional, charming lady and it was a pleasure to be able to name her New Milton Citizen of the Year for 2012.
