Tree Work Policy – A Guide for Residents - Joanna Hayward

Tree Work Policy – A Guide for Residents

The Town Council is a major landowner in the town, incorporating approximately 20,000 trees, and we have a duty of care to take reasonable steps to prevent foreseeable harm to people or property.

To fulfil this, Town Council trees are proactively assessed on a cyclical basis, through a Tree Management Contract with New Forest District Council.  We have prioritised categories of sites and their Arboriculturist inspects the sites and advises us of the work necessary.

We have a Tree Work Policy – A Guide for Residents which you may view here tree-work-policy-a-residents-guide and tree-management-schedule.

We will remember them - Joanna Hayward November 17, 2016

We will remember them

Ninety-eight years ago, at the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month in 1918, the First World War ended.

In New Milton, we remember the 223 local servicemen and women who lost their lives – 83 from WW1 and 140 from WW11 – whose names appear on the New Milton Memorial, together with 26 local residents who died in the bombings of New Milton during World War II.

In total, 249 local people lost their lives in these two wars.

On Remembrance Sunday nine crosses were planted in commemoration of local servicemen killed 100 years ago at the Battle of Jutland, and the Battle of the Somme.

The Battle of the Somme continued until 18 November 1916, with the final New Milton casualty killed on 13 November 1916.

We remember those New Miltonians who gave their lives in  ultimate sacrifice.
