Citizen of the Year 2017 - Joanna Hayward

Citizen of the Year 2017

 Press Release 12 April 2017

The New Milton Citizen of the Year Award was presented to Geoffrey Harris at the Annual Towns Meeting held at New Milton Town Hall on Tuesday 11 April 2017.  The Town Mayor, Cllr David Hawkins was delighted to present the award to Geoffrey, who was nominated by his appreciative neighbours living at Waverley House, New Milton.

Geoffrey Harris is very well thought of by his neighbours, being a wonderful neighbour and friend, assisting wherever he can, doing shopping, gardening and providing reassurance and emotional support.   One of the residents at Waverley House has even written a lovely little poem about his endeavours to help – which unfortunately led to a broken arm for Geoff!

The New Milton Citizen of the Year is an annual award presented to deserving residents who have shown service to the community, have shown courage in overcoming / coping with disability and service to the community, or demonstrated an act of bravery, or shown a helping / caring attitude to someone disadvantaged.  Geoff Harris completely fulfilled this criteria and the Mayor was very impressed with Geoff being selfless and obliging to all those in need.

Well done Geoff!
