The most prestigious event to be held in New Milton is the New Forest Marathon and Half Marathon held each year during September with the start and finish in the centre of New Milton. The New Forest Marathon has always been organised and controlled by voluntary helpers in the Community, unlike many similar events that are assisted by staff from local authorities or salaried administrators. This ensures maximum funding for the Charities.
Each year on the Saturday evening nearest to November 5 the New Milton & District Round Table hold a firework display in aid of local charities. This is another event which is proving to be extremely popular with both adults and children alike. The event is held in the field adjacent to Moore Close, Christchurch Road, New Milton.
A Christmas Carnival is organised by the Lions Club of New Milton and is held on a Saturday afternoon at the beginning of December. The normal parade route starts at Arnewood School, along Gore Road, Whitefield Road, Station Road, Elm Avenue, Old Milton Road, Hobart Road then back to Arnewood School. The carnival is very popular and well supported, raising funds for local charities.
A weekly street market is held at the southern end of Station Road every Wednesday and a wide variety of merchandise is available. Several Farmer's Markets are also held throughout the year.
In 2005 New Milton held it's first Christmas Market, and this event was very successful bringing in many visitors to the Town.
A new initiative between the New Milton Town Partnership and Hampshire Movieola has been the introduction of Milton Movies. A selection of films have been shown in both the Forest Arts Centre and the Memorial Centre.
In addition to the above mentioned events during the summer months the Moore Close site is the venue for the visits of a circus and a funfair. Car Boot sales are also held on this site during the summer months.
