26.08.10 - Town Mayor attends Jackie Preis Open Garden at Moorlands Avenue

New Milton Town Mayor, Councillor Janette Duke has attended an Open Garden at Moorlands Avenue hosting a raffle in aid of the Christina Noble Foundation. The Town Mayor will also be holding a coffee morning in Station Road on Wednesday 22nd September in support of the McMillan Cancer charity. 19.08.10 - Play Provision in New Milton - Long Meadow residents survey report now available & Town Mayor opens Morrisons store

As part of the play provision review in New Milton a residents survey has been carried out at Long Meadow, Barton on Sea. New Milton Town Council, in partnership with New Forest District Council has carried out a consultation exercise to determine the most appropriate form of enhanced play opportunities at Long Meadow. The report is available as a PDF download on our play provision webpages.

On Monday 9th August 2010 Cllr Mrs Janette Duke, Town Mayor of New Milton took part in the official opening of the new Morrisons store in Station Road. A number of Town Councillors were in attendance and the community turn out on the high street was fantastic to witness this new store opening. 12.08.10 - New Milton Round Table kidnaps Mayor!

On Saturday 24 July New Milton Town Mayor Cllr Mrs Janette Duke was invited to attend the annual fete at the Rectory of St Mary Magdalene Church.  It was another event which was extremely well supported by our community with over 500 visitors. During the event our town mayor was "kidnapped" by the knights of the Round Table and paraded down along the road of the House Martin.

05.08.10 - Community Picnic 2010 - Mayor's blog and photos

New Milton Town Mayor Cllr Mrs Janette Duke has been blogging about the Community Picnic in June.

"I look back on the Community Picnic held on Sunday June 27th as a great success and a clear indication that there is a great will within our community to work together for the benefit of all.  The response from clubs and organisations was truly amazing with over 50 different groups taking part in the event."

28.06.10 - Long Meadow - joint press statement & play report

A joint statement from New Forest District Council and New Milton Town Council is now available online along with a published play provision report.The report considers three existing open space sites in Barton on Sea, and concludes that, against National, Regional and District policies and guidelines, Long Meadow is the most appropriate site for making play provision for local children as a priority, and, in order to meet recognised national guidelines, further provision should also be considered in Barton on Sea. 03.06.10 - Alworths opens in New Milton

New Town Mayor Cllr Janette Duke has undertaken her first official duty last week -  opening the new Alworths store on May 21st. The new store opens at the old Woolworths site in Station Road and will be selling similar products such as DVD, games, confectionary and stationary

06.05.10 - New Town Mayor - Cllr Janette Duke

At the full Town Council meeting on the 4th May 2010 Cllr Janette Duke became the new Mayor of New Milton, taking over from Cllr Alan O' Sullivan who now becomes Deputy Mayor. Janette's theme for this year is "Community" and plans are underway for some exciting events this summer, including a Community Picnic. For more details please visit our Town Mayor page.

29.04.10 - New Town Guide for 2010/11

The latest New Milton Town Guide is now available for download on our website or collection at the Town Hall. The guide contains lots of information including events, places to eat, drink and shop. The Town Guide is sponsored by New Forest Post and New Milton Town Council. We would be happy to receive any feedback you may have.

22.04.10 - New photos of recent events, annual report and Citizen of the Year

We have updated our website with a selection of photos from recent Council events including the Civic Service, Annual Towns Meeting and the Citizen of the Year award. Congratulations go to the Barton Luncheon Club who won the Citizen of the Year award - this group of volunteers provide up to 60 cooked luncheons 45 weeks of the year for elderly residents of the parish of New Milton.

The Town Council's Annual Report for 2009/10 is now available for download online. The report contains information from each of the Town Council's committees along with a report from the Council Chairman and Mayor Cllr Alan O'Sullivan. To view the report please go to our Annual Reports section.

01.04.10 - Recruiting for an Amenities supervisor

Following a review of staffing needs, New Milton Town Council has the following vacancy for the right person to take charge of our ground staff.  Supervising a team of six grounds staff, the successful applicant will ensure all Council-owned playing fields, football / rugby pitches, cricket squares and bowling greens are prepared and maintained together with 50 sites of public open space including woodland and common land. 25.03.10 - Don't miss out on a Planning meeting & New community websites launch

Public consultation on planning applications is important and we like to get as many people from the public as possible to attend out fortnightly planning meetings when an application applies to them or nearby area. You can now find a list of dates and details of applications due to be discussed by the Town Council on our planning pages.

The New Milton Town Partnership has redesigned their website which now features a web forum. Plus a brand new website 'New Milton Today' has launched providing news and events for New Milton and surrounding towns. More details about these new websites on the Local Community Organisation pages.

18.03.10 - INQ Mag - the new Youth Magazine & Vote for your favourite lollipop person

New Forest District Council have published the first edition of the INQ Mag the magazine to go side by side the INQ youth website for people in the New Forest. Readers of the magazine and visitors of the website can check out what's on at the cinema, upload music, find a local gym and loads more.

It is also time to vote for your favourite lollipop person of the year with Hampshire County Council's Road Safety team. One finalist will be chosen from each of the 11 districts, with the overall winner being announced at an awards ceremony on 23 June and featured in the Autumn edition of Hampshire Now. Each finalist will receive a prize, certificate and trophy - with one being revealed as the School Crossing Patrol of the Year and rewarded with £500 worth of John Lewis vouchers. Vote for your favourite lollipop person now!

11.03.10 - Annual Civic Service - April 11th

This year's annual civic service will be held on Sunday April 11th at the Ashley Baptist Church in New Milton. The service is an opportunity for local groups and organisations to rededicate themselves to civic service for the following year and has been thoroughly enjoyed by all those who have attended in the past. Light refreshments will be served in the Church Hall after the service

Everybody is welcome to attend, keep an eye on our website for updates and news. This is an interdenominational / all faiths service for the whole community of the town.

04.03.10 - Local Precepts and Citizen of the Year award

Local Council precept information is now available to view online which documents a 5.4% rise in local Council tax. Furthermore our latest budget can now be downloaded from the Freedom of Information web pages. It is also time again to nominate your Citizen of the Year for New Milton. The yearly Citizen of the Year award aims to recognise outstanding contributions to the community and each year the award is presented by New Milton Town Council to the winner. Our last winner was Mr Ted Horne. We will be taking nominations from the public up until April 1st when nominations will close and the Town Mayor will pick a winner. If you know someone who has contributed greatly to the community please let us know by nominating online today!

18.02.10 - Join us on Facebook

New Milton Town Council can now also be found on the social networking website Facebook. Our new Facebook page joins alongside our presence on Twitter to enable residence to receive news and contact the Council through their preferred casual social networking website. We'll be keeping our Facebook and Twitter up to date in synchronous with this page. We look forward to seeing you on these websites and hearing any comments you may have.

21.01.10 - New market recycling scheme

A new market recycling scheme undertaken by New Forest District Council starts January 20th 2010. The new scheme aims to recycle the waste generated from the market stalls such as the build up of boxes and bags. New Milton now joins three other New Forest markets to receive the recycling scheme with successful operations in Lymington, Ringwood and Hythe. The new scheme will help ensure that recyclable waste disposal will now be sent to recycling plants rather than a landfill. View more on the recycling pages.

14.01.10 - Local Distinctiveness Draft is now online for consultation

New Forest District Council intend to produce Supplementary Planning Documents on the different towns and large villages within their area, with New Milton and Barton-on-Sea piloting the project. The document aims to guide householders, landowners, businesses and developers on the design of new buildings, with particular regard to character retention and implementation of related policies within the District Council's recently adopted 'Core Strategy', plus implementation of the other policies within. Appendix 3 of the draft document contains the recently adopted New Milton Town Design Statement. Find more information and view the document on our planning pages.
