We are delighted to report on some fund-raising activity by a group of friends from Year 9, Arnewood School. The kind-hearted and generous footballing friends organised a charity football match, (during the Easter holidays) complete with a referee and an ardent fan base at Fawcetts Field.
It was a thrilling 11-a-side match will a full-on 90 minutes of football. Over 14 goals were scored during the match and then going to penalties with a further 7 goals going in the back of the net! The last penalty hit the crossbar – the penalty taker has not been named!
They asked their friends for donations of £1 to play and £1 to spectate, as well as organising a raffle with footballs on offer (also provided by themselves) sweets and vouchers from local businesses – with the total raised being £250, absolutely brilliant.
Last year they held a charity match collecting money for Cancer Research. We are very proud of these lads and applaud their initiative and good sportsmanship.
The picture shows Noah Andrew, Alex Brash and Daniel Rice-Mundy meeting the Mayor of New Milton at the Town Hall and presenting their fund-raising efforts.
Well done to you all!
