HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh

HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh

Message from New Milton Town Mayor

On behalf of the New Milton Town Council, I am deeply saddened by the announcement from Buckingham Palace this afternoon of the death of HRH Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

As a mark of respect and in accordance with our previously agreed procedures, we are flying our Union & Town Council flags at half-mast at both Fawcetts Field entrance and the War Memorial on the Recreation Ground.

I am sure many of you will wish to join in with the many messages of condolence. We are awaiting the release of the official details from Buckingham Palace for how condolences may be recorded, and these will be shared in due course.

Due to the current restrictions, the Council will not be opening physical books of condolence at its offices at this time, but wreaths and flowers may be laid at the Memorial.

New Forest District Council will issue news releases about events taking place throughout the District.

At the Amenities Committee meeting on Tuesday, members and officers are requested to wear white shirt / black tie and similarly appropriate women’s attire, with black armband.

As a sign of respect, a minute’s silence will be observed at the start of that meeting.

Cllr Alvin Reid

Town Mayor
