There are two types of planning applications depending on the location of the proposal. Those applications which exist in the New Forest National Park are decided by the National Park Authority. Otherwise the application will be decided by New Forest District Council.  No matter which authority deals with the application you will always have an opportunity to send us your comments or attend our meeting at the Town Hall.

Something to say?

There are lots of things you can do to have your voice heard. Here are some of the things you can do:

  • Write or email in our contact details are available here
  • Come along to one of our planning meetings (see below).

Planning meetings

You’ll need the meeting dates first! You’ll also need to make sure the meeting you go to will be speaking about your application.

We have a certain procedure for the way we accept comments during the planning meetings. We allow members of the public to comment on applications prior to the discussion but once the chairman officially starts the meeting you will not be able to participate further. Members of the planning team will do their best to talk to you before the discussions begin to ask if you have any comments.
