Conservation Grazers Needed

Conservation Grazers Needed

Livestock grazing is essential for the conservation of many of England’s most important wildlife habitats.  New Milton Town Council are responsible for the Ballard Water Meadow site, designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation; managed in line with Environmental Stewardship requirements under the Higher Level Stewardship scheme.

Previously grazed by a small herd of Dexter cattle, we’ve now got 4.25 ha of grazing available in the meadow from September to March, year on year, and we need conservation grazers to help us maintain this important local wildlife site.

The site benefits from full stock fencing around the meadow and secured gates.   Livestock have access to a water trough that is regularly checked.
