The search is on for New Milton’s Community Champions
The Town Council want to know about those unsung heroes; those caring and kind people with a heart of gold who go the extra mile to help their neighbours or others in need in our community. We also want to know about dedicated individual volunteers and community groups.
Nominations are sought in three categories:
- Community Champion for an individual or couple who have shown service to the community
- Volunteer of the Year for an individual volunteer resident in New Milton
- Community Group of the Year for a group based in new Milton which has shown service to the community.
All nominees should be residents of New Milton or working for the benefit of the town of New Milton and/or the residents of New Milton.
Nominees and winners will be celebrated at the Community Celebration on 11 March 2026 when we will share their stories and present awards. The event will also include the Mayor’s Commendations to young people who have achieved something admirable or exceptional. Further details about the Celebration event will be shared soon.
Nomination forms and the general rules are available to view on our website. The closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday 13 February 2026.
Our first award winner in 2005 was Arthur Lloyd and in the last 20 years we’ve celebrated a wide range of residents who have given that little bit extra for the community. In 2025 we were delighted to award Brian and Jan Coy as our Citizens of the Year for their work with the Open Sight Club, and Mandy Hayes as our Community Champion for coordinating successful community initiatives such as the Friends of New Milton Station and New Milton Wombles litter picking group.
