Friends of the Indian Soldiers Memorial
The Friends of the Indian Soldiers Memorial are dedicated to preserving the history of the Indian Memorial Obelisk in Barton on Sea.
Working closely with New Milton Town Council in hosting an Annual Act of Remembrance on 10 July each year. The ceremony commemorates the unveiling of the Obelisk on 10 July 1917.
The Friends Group is incorporated into the Milton Heritage Society working to research and promote the history of the Indian Army in the New Forest during World War 1.
The important contribution of the Indian Soldiers during this period of history should not be forgotten.
